TRA050 datasheet · Official CAE systemRegulated by MITECO · RD 36/2023

Swapped your car for an electric one? That saving is money — and we pay it to you.

By replacing a combustion vehicle with a fully electric one you generate an energy saving that the CAE system (Energy Savings Certificates) turns into a cash amount. Sanwa calculates it, gathers the documentation, processes the case and pays you. Free for you, from start to finish.

≈ €740on average for a passenger car — 7,400 kWh/year of certified savings
Does it apply to you?

Which cases generate a CAE — and which don't.

Generates a CAE

  • Replacing a combustion car, motorbike, van, truck or bus with a 100% electric vehicle
  • The old vehicle was in your name for more than 1 year (proven with the registration certificate or the IVTM road-tax receipt)
  • The old vehicle is scrapped or transferred with a change of ownership at the DGT
  • Individuals and companies: passenger cars, fleets and industrial vehicles

Doesn't generate a CAE

  • Buying a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid: the new vehicle must be fully electric
  • Buying an electric vehicle without deregistering or transferring a combustion one
  • Old vehicles owned for less than 1 year
  • Cases where the electric vehicle uses more energy than the one replaced (the saving must come out positive)

Unsure about your specific case (renting, leasing, company vehicle, several owners)? Tell us about it and we'll confirm its viability with no obligation before starting.

Documentation

The paperwork, clear from the start.

This is exactly what the TRA050 case requires. You almost certainly have most of it in a drawer already — and for anything missing, we'll tell you exactly how to get it.

Mandatory

  • Technical datasheet of the old vehicle

Defines the official consumption of the replaced vehicle: it's the basis of the savings calculation.

  • Owner's DNI / NIE

Identifies the owner of the savings, who is the one paid for the CAE.

  • Purchase invoice of the electric vehicle

Proves the purchase of the new vehicle and its date.

  • Registration certificate or IVTM receipt

Either one works: they show the old vehicle was in your name for more than a year.

  • Scrapping certificate or change of ownership (DGT)

Either one works: they prove the combustion vehicle leaves circulation or changes hands.

Optional — but worth having

They don't block the case, but in some situations they speed it up or make it possible:

  • Technical homologation of the new vehicle

Only needed if your electric car doesn't appear in the IDAE's official catalogue; with it we use its real homologated consumption.

  • Notarised power of attorney

Only if a representative signs instead of the owner.

  • Proof of bank account ownership

Speeds up the payment: we verify the payout account without back-and-forth.

Our form finds your vehicle in the IDAE's official catalogue by make and model: in most cases you won't have to look up a single technical detail by hand.

How much you get paid

Real examples with official data.

The saving is calculated with the official TRA050 formula: the old vehicle's consumption minus the electric one's, multiplied by the average annual kilometres published by the DGT (13,073 km/year for a passenger car).

  • Average passenger car: combustion → electric

    ≈ €740

7,400 kWh/year — the average certified saving across our cases

  • Vans, trucks and buses

    Considerably more

More annual km and higher consumption = more certified savings

  • Your exact case?

    Calculate it

with the IDAE's official database — free and in one minute

  • The real consumption of the old vehicle (the higher the consumption, the bigger the saving)
  • The vehicle type: a truck covers an official average of 53,508 km/year
  • The homologated consumption of the new electric vehicle (IDAE catalogue)
  • The final amount is settled in the free study of your case

Average saving based on Sanwa's real cases; indicative economic equivalence calculated with the same methodology and official constants as our public calculator (Annexes II and III of the CAE catalogue, DGT average km). The final amount depends on your specific vehicle and we confirm it in writing before starting. Remember: the service has no cost for you.

How it works

From documentation to money in your account in 3 steps.

  1. 01

    Send us the documentation

You send us the documents on the list (or tell us what you're missing and we'll help you get it). Our system finds your vehicle in the IDAE catalogue.

  2. 02

    We process and verify

We build the case, an ENAC-accredited body verifies it and we submit it. You follow it all online, with no admin on your side.

  3. 03

    You get paid

In about 3 months on average. We pay you the same week your certificate is issued — we don't wait to be paid ourselves first.

Common questions

What we get asked before starting.

How much does it cost to process my electric car's CAE with Sanwa?
Nothing. The service is free from start to finish: you don't pay before, during or after. Sanwa earns its margin by negotiating the certified savings with the system's Obligated and Delegated Parties.
When and how do I get paid?
The average time to payment is about 3 months from when we have the complete documentation. We pay you by bank transfer the same week your certificate is issued.
I bought the electric car months ago — am I still in time?
In most cases, yes. Tell us the purchase date and the old vehicle's deregistration or transfer date and we'll confirm the fit in minutes, with no obligation.
Does it count if my new car is a hybrid?
No. The TRA050 datasheet requires the new vehicle to be 100% electric. The replaced vehicle can be petrol, diesel, LPG or natural gas — including combustion hybrids.
Is it compatible with the MOVES plan or other grants?
Yes. The CAE is a mechanism independent of subsidies: you can collect your CAE on top of any public aid you received for the same vehicle.
What if I'm missing a document?
We tell you exactly how to get it (almost all of them can be requested online: DGT, town council, dealership) and the case waits with you. You don't lose your entitlement by taking a few days.
